MSME’s covid recovery program part 1: Thresher Sharks conservation in fishermen village in Lewalu, Alor island

It’s time for the Thresher Sharks conservation!
MALA Tours got a chance from @instellarid to be chosen as one of 3 Social Enterprises in Indonesia that were granted a grant from Facebook Ireland & Give2Asia to help small & medium enterprises that suffer from Covid19 pandemic. We use the grant to help 3 SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprises) in Alor island, East Nusa Tenggara province – Indonesia.
One of them is SME from Lewalu village named Badan Usaha Milik Desa (Village-owned Enterprise) to expand and enhance their tuna products business so they will permanently stop to become sharks fishermen. These villagers used to be known as the experts of sharks hunters especially the endangered species of Threshers Sharks.
.
So, we signed the MOU (memorandum of understanding) with the village authorities & women groups in Lewalu village to started the 3 months long program. Hopefully we can bring positive changes to the lives of the Lewalu villagers by providing capital, machines and marketing help in promoting their products.
