Day 1

Watch a beautiful sunrise at Borobudur Temple, the world’s largest Buddhist temple. Continue to Merapi tour where we will ride a jeep around the base of Mount Merapi. The jeep ride is quite bumpy but very fun! Here you will visit a museum with artifacts from past explosions, an alien rock, a viewpoint of the mountain, and a supposedly haunted bunker. Learn about Merapi’s past, the community, and the environment. 

Day 2 – If you choose Ramayana Dance Performance

Yogyakarta city tour- visiting the Sultan’s Palace (Kraton or Keraton), the famous Malioboro Street for souvenir shopping, and the Water Castle (Taman Sari) of Yogyakarta. Then continue on to Prambanan Temple, a Hindu Temple dedicated to three Hindu deities- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. 

Lastly, choose between a watching a fantastic Ramayana dance performance OR visiting Ratu Boko, the mysterious and beautiful Stork King’s palace for sunset (2-3 hours).

    • Borobudur Sunrise

    • Yogyakarta’s City sites – Malioboro Street, Sultan’s Palace, and Water Castle

    • Ratu Boko Palace at Sunset OR Ramayana Dance Performance (indoor vs. outdoor theatre  depends on the date)
