Day 1

  • Airport pick up then heading to Takpala Village (we will have welcome drink and see the culture shows such as Lego-lego dances (brotherhood dances), Cakalele dance (war dances), etc. Takpala people are well-known for their traditional lifestyle and the absence of technology in their village because they still practice their ancestors’ local wisdom.
  • We will have lunch in Takpala together with the community, we will have traditional food made from the freshest ingredients.
  • After lunch, we will learn to cook like locals. We will learn to make jagung titi (local Alornese staples), jagung bunga, and traditional rice-milling process, you can also wear Takpala’s traditional costumes and take pictures.
  • We then learn to sing traditional songs and folklore of the Abui tribe whom Takpala people came from, learn to dance and you can watch amazing sunset from the village
  • Tonight we will stay in Takpala’s traditional house which are lit by bamboo torches. For your information, there is no electricity here, so we will help you if you want to charge your cameras and cellphones batteries in the neighbouring village. So, you can have them back in 2 hours or more.

Note: We will give you a book contain songs and folklore of Abui people with English translation on it.

 

Day 2

  • After breakfast in Takpala, we will heading to Ikat Weavers workshop at Kampong Hula where we can watch the making of Ikat clothes made from organic cotton and natural colourings. The head of the weaver group found 210 natural colourings that came from many kinds of leaves, tree bark, squid, seaweed, sea cucumber, etc. We can taste traditional snacks and have lunch here.
  • After lunch we will heading to Kampong Monbang to see the making of organic coffee straight from its plantation. We can pick coffee beans from the tree if they are ripe enough, peel them, roast them then taste them. Also, we can enjoy cultural performance from Kabola tribe in Kampong Monbang and can try to make Kabola tribe traditional attire from tree bark.
  • After ending our session in Kampong Monbang, we will go back to Kalabahi and have dinner in Pantai Reklamasi then rest in a hotel.


Day 3

  • After breakfast we will heading to Pura island where we can see Tarian Elang (Eagle dance), Lego-lego dance and Silat Kampung (traditional martial art). After having lunch, we will see the process of making Sopi (local alcoholic drink with 40% alcohol content). Then we can see the cane work in making tenata (small bags used for beetle nut storage), bubu (traditional fish trap made from bamboo) and setting up the Bubu underwater by the fishermen. If you want to snorkel, we will provide snorkelling gear and life jacket.
  • From Pura island we will go to Ling’al beach. This white sand beach with crystal clear water is the place where we will camp for tonight. In this beach we can snorkel, trek to the hills, visit a fishermen village or just sunbathing and sleeping in the hammock. At night, we can enjoying the night sky while  making camp fire and grilling barbecue.

Note : Dinner and snack will be prepared by MALA Tours. Camping tent will be equipped with mattress, pillows, and bedding set. There are toilet and shower near the camp location. There are hammocks provided.


Day 4 (seasonal : March - April), maybe changed to other locations if the weather is changing

  • After breakfast in Ling 'al we will heading to Tereweng with boat. In Tereweng, we will harvest Srikaya and black beans that you can bring home. We will have lunch in Tereweng and after we will visit Kerajaan Batu Tereweng (Kingdom gates-like rocks formation that pictured in the brochure cover)
  • From Tereweng we will heading to Sebanjar beach and enjoying sunset in Tambak Garam (Salt Ponds), one of the spot to enjoy the best sunset in Alor
  • Going back to Hotel in Kalabahi and have dinner in Pantai Reklamasi.


Day 5

  • After breakfast we will heading to Kadelang market to see the activities and interesting things sold in the market and heading to 1000 Moko Museum.
  • We will heading back to the hotel and check outAfterwards, we will heading to Maimol beach to enjoy the view and drink coconut water and/or boiled corn before going to the Airport and return home.

MALA stands for our company name, Mandiri Alor Lestari Alam (Independent Alor & Sustainable Nature). The name resembles our strong commitment to promote Alor and eastern Indonesia tourism while preserving the nature and culture of the communities. We are three women that committed to develop ecotourism and preserving culture. We are Melissa, Mika, Isye and many more local staff.
